Bridal Tips

Do I need to schedule a trial run for my wedding hair style?
Yes.  A trial run for your wedding hair is very important and should be scheduled at our hair salon in Milwaukee at least 2 to 3 months before the date of your wedding.   This will allow you to see a practice version of your hair style before the big day so that any adjustments that need to be made can be worked out well in advance.

What should I bring to my initial wedding hair consultation?
Your first wedding hair appointment is very important.  This is when we will begin to plan a creative and customized style just for you.   Our bridal stylists will want to completely understand your vision and your personal taste, so feel free to bring photos that you have collected that show different styles that you like as well as your veil and any hair accessories that you plan to wear.   We can discuss different wedding hair styles that will work beautifully with the type of veil or hair ornaments that you have chosen.    You can also bring photos of your dress and share details about the theme of your wedding and your color scheme. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, please let us know.   Certain wedding hair styles work better than others for outdoor events.  We can share options for styles that will work well in unpredictable weather.

How can I make my hair shiny and vibrant before my wedding?

Few things are more beautiful than healthy, glossy hair with a radiant shine.  Plan a deep conditioning treatment at our hair salon a few weeks before your wedding day to add shine and manageability to your hair.  A deep conditioning treatment can help repair damage, lock in moisture, add shine, and strengthen your hair, which will in turn add to its beauty on your wedding day.   Our L’Oreal Powerdose treatments are perfect, and they can be customized to target exactly what your hair needs.

How do I make sure that my skin has a healthy glow?
Along with healthy hair, healthy skin will allow you to look amazing for all of your bridal photos.   Start planning for healthy beautiful skin in the months and weeks before the big day.  If you are addicted to junk food, then begin adding some healthier options into your diet.  Add in nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables that are high in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants.  Drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated.

In addition to a pursuing a healthy diet, plan for a healthy skin care regimen before your wedding to remove dead skin cells, toxins and impurities, and to cleanse and refresh your skin before the ceremony.  On your wedding day, your skin will have a radiant healthy glow!

What should I wear to my wedding hair appointment?
When you arrive at our hair salon in Milwaukee for your wedding hair appointment (either for a trial run or the final appointment), remember to wear a zip-up or button up shirt.  For obvious reasons, we do not recommend collared shirts, hooded shirts, or turtlenecks please!

Can I color my hair before my wedding day?

You can color your hair before your wedding day, but you should not wait until the last minute.  Plan an appointment for a new hair color or highlights at least 2 weeks before your wedding day.   Our expert colorists can help you choose a hair color that will compliment your dress and facial tones.  A haircut or trim should be planned at least 2 weeks before your wedding day as well.   Having your hair appointment this far in advance will allow your hair to adjust to the new color or new cut before your wedding.

For amazing shine, we suggest scheduling a gloss or shine treatment at our Milwaukee hair salon.

Should I wash my hair before my wedding hair appointment?
This depends largely on your hair type and the type of style that our bridal hair stylists will be creating for you.  If your hair is normal and if your preferred wedding hair style is an updo, then you can wash your hair the night before your wedding day.    This will allow your hair to conform more easily to the style if it is not squeaky clean.   If you are going for long lengthy layers, you may be able to shampoo your hair on the morning of the wedding instead of the evening before.  When you arrive at our salon for your initial wedding  hair appointment, we will examine your hair type and give you specific instructions for hair care on the day of your wedding in order to allow for the best results.
How do I know which bridal hairstyle is right for me?
There are many factors to consider when choosing a bridal hair style.    Our Milwaukee wedding hair experts suggest that you don’t stray too far from the real you.   Choose a style that compliments your dress and your personality.  If your dress is elaborate and ornate, go for a style that has the same flair.  If your dress is simple but chic, then choose a more classic, sophisticated look such as a chignon.   If your wedding is outdoors, choose a style that will hold up no matter what the weather springs upon you.  Certain styles work better in humid outdoor conditions than others.

Do I need to schedule a trial run for my makeup as well as my hair?
Yes!  Scheduling a trial run for your bridal makeup is just as important as scheduling an appointment for your hair.  You can schedule both appointments at our Milwaukee hair salon on the same day so that you can get a complete vision of what your finished look will be.

For wedding makeup,  choose colors that will work well with your skin tone and accentuate your features.  Opt for a timeless look that will compliment your style without being drastic.  You want your wedding look to be beautiful and timeless so that years from now, when you view your photos, your style will not feel dated.  After your makeup is applied at your trial run, observe how it looks in different kinds of light so that you can see if any adjustments need to be made.   Check your look in natural light as well as check to see how you will look on camera.

When should I schedule an eyebrow wax?

You can schedule an appointment at our Milwaukee salon for a professional eyebrow wax and shaping  a few days before the wedding, and then you’ll have perfectly arched brows.

What color should I paint my nails?
A classic look such as French nails or a color that is very close to the natural color of your nails works very well for brides.  Choosing a nail color that is more natural will not draw the attention away from your face, which is where all eyes need to be on your wedding day.

skin careWhat steps can I take for beautiful hands and nails?

Begin several weeks in advance of your wedding day.  Find a high quality moisturizing cream or body butter and apply it several times a day to your hands to begin repairing the effects of dry, damaged skin.  You can also apply a moisturizer to your feet to keep them soft and supple as well.  Use an exfoliating scrub on your hands and feet each day as you shower.  Just a few extra minutes of exfoliation will help to remove rough dry skin.

A few days before the wedding, schedule a manicure and pedicure.  For best results, opt for a Shellac manicure and pedicure.  Shellac will give your nails an amazingly gorgeous finish with mirror shine.  Shellac nail color is strong and durable, and your manicure and pedicure will last for up to 2 weeks without chipping.

Should I schedule a tan before my  wedding?

If you plan to get a tan for your wedding, we suggest that you do a trial run at least 2 or 3 weeks before your wedding day.  Just like a trial run for wedding hair and makeup,  scheduling a tanning trial run will allow you to see the results in advance and plan for any adjustments that need to be made in order to guarantee the best results.    If you are also planning for waxing services such as a leg wax, eyebrow wax, bikini wax or other service, then schedule those appointments BEFORE your tan.

Schedule your final tanning appointment at our Milwaukee salon about 3 days before your wedding day.  This will allow your tan to fully develop and if there are any areas that need to be retouched, you will have time for this without being stressed before the big day.   For the very best results, ALWAYS exfoliate your skin very well before your tanning appointment.

What about waxing?

Schedule your waxing services at least a week in advance of your wedding day.

For best results, we suggest at least ¼ to ½ inches of hair growth before your waxing appointment.  This allows for a better results.

Some products, such as Accutane and Retin-A, can have an adverse effect on waxing so please consult with us first if you are using these products.   Before your waxing appointment, do not use any self-tanner or moisturizer or abrasive body scrubs on your skin.  After your appointment, you will need to avoid exposure to the sun, swimming pools and using tanning beds for at least 24 hours.
